Palace of Culture is a former Kalashnikov Exchange performing operations with bread. Grain Exchange was built in 1906. Kalashnikovskaya Exchange was famous among the citizens, not only as a place to make transactions, but also as a great recreation center, where traditionally held Christmas balls and Easter mornings, a cozy café and a theater.
July 18, 1940 in the building of Kalashnikov Exchange Club was established for employees of NKVD in the future Palace of Culture. FE Dzerzhinsky (now the Cultural Center of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region). Over the 67 years of the Palace never stopped their work. In the difficult period of the siege of Leningrad club was the only active cultural institution of the city.
