Swan Lake is one of the most fantastic, perfect and famous works of ballet art. His choreography for a long time is considered to be a universally recognized masterpiece of world ballet, one of the most outstanding achievements of Russian national culture.

The history of Swan Lake began in 1875, when by order of the Bolshoi Theater a young but already well-known composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote ballet music. Tchaikovsky did not set himself revolutionary tasks. He carefully studied ballet scores and sought to saturate their musical foundation with high content. Choreographer Marius Petipa, who contrasted the white queen of the swans, Odette with her black twin, Odile, and his assistant Lev Ivanov, the author of the famous swan scenes, felt for the first time the innovation of Tchaikovsky's ballet music and her ability to embody the characters in their interaction and development . Thus, a new form of ballet theater was created - symphonic ballet.

Swan Lake is always in demand. That is why the new, stylish stage design of one of the most famous classical heritage ballets in the repertoire of the Leonid Yakobson Ballet Theater, performed by the eminent and gifted theater artist Vyacheslav Okunev, undoubtedly brings new colors to the familiar performance and gives a fresh look at the academic ballet staging, so beloved by the public all over the world.
