Gioacchino Rossini opera "The Barber of Seville" (1816) - the highest sample of Italian opera buffa (comic opera). The basis of the libretto by Cesare Strebini lay the comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais.

Envious rivals composer provided the scandalous failure of the premiere, which took place February 20, 1816 in the theater "Argento" (Rome). But after the second performance of "The Barber of Seville" was waiting for a triumph: the audience demanded a repeat of each room "encore".
