Unable to cope with the death of Eurydice, who died tragically from a snake bite, Orpheus decides to go into the realm of the dead to return to life of his young wife. He manages the force of his musical genius soften the hearts of the inhabitants of the gloomy world of the dead. They agree to let Eurydice, but on certain conditions...
The fate of Orpheus - the greatest musician in Greek mythology - always inspired opera composers. This story is written many works. One of the most famous - Reformed Gluck opera "Orpheus and Eurydice", created by the composer in 1762 and set in Vienna "at the Burgtheater". In 1774, Gluck made a new version of Opera for performances in Paris. Text was translated from Italian to French, the score added ballet and pantomime scene.
