Never Group is a new project by Zhenya Strigalev, who followed after his successful project Smiling Organizm.
Possessing an amazing ability to combine a fiery, passionate mood and grace, alto saxophonist Zhenya Strigalev is a young virtuoso, rapidly gaining recognition on the world stage. Originally from St. Petersburg, Zhenya graduated from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in 2007 and won the audience of the most famous scenes of London to New York.
By now, Zhenya has worked with leading jazz musicians of the world and played at authoritative jazz festivals in Russia, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Peru, Chile ... Among his partners in the scene - Ambrose Akinmusire, Aaron Parks, Chris "Daddy" Dave, "Foley" McCreary, William Parker, Hamid Drake, Robert Mitchell, Tim Lefebvre, Larry Grenadier and Eric Harland. His growing professionalism was appreciated by critics. Album Robin Goodie (2015) was named the authoritative jazz magazine Downbeat one of the best records of the year, and the British Telegraph defined his compositions as "combining jazz melodies, bass funk motives and charming eccentricity." His musical fantasy knows no boundaries, and his solos are invariably intriguing and stunning.
The band will play author music from the new album "Blues for Maggie" (2018).
