Theater Festival "Baltic House" presents the premiere of "Taras" based on the story of Nikolai Gogol. The performance will be staged by a young director from Yakutia, laureate of prestigious prizes Sergey Potapov. The dramatist Mikhail Bashkirov wrote the play specially for this production.
From the classic edition of the author's text, the central line of the plot is carefully preserved. The father of the Cossack family decides to take his sons, Ostap and Andrei, learned in the Academy, to their homeland, to the Zaporozhian Sich. Taras Bulba leads them to the places of military glory, acquaints with friends and comrades, tries to awaken Cossack daring in young couples.
The audience is expecting an action on the futility of the illusion that the war can harden and unite the glorious sons that are born on this earth. Alas, illusions are destined to disperse, the war bears destruction, pain and loss. Against the war, which kills and marshes everything in its path, love will come out, strong, passionate, blinding. Will she be able to win - the main question that this performance poses.
