One of the most famous and popular works in the world music history will be performed by the piano genius in the Throne Room of the Catherine Palace at the Solemn closing of the XXVI International Music Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg".

On this solemn evening, guests can enjoy the masterpiece of the second concert of Sergei Rachmaninov. A powerful and lyrical work is considered literally curing the soul, because the author dedicated a concert to the physician Nikolai Dal, who helped the composer to overcome the most difficult life period. The second concert was the beginning of a new era in Rachmaninov's work. Not surprisingly, even official science has recognized the audition of this work as healing.

The second concert was one of the most popular works of piano literature and entered the repertoire of the world's leading pianists. It was performed and recorded by Rakhmaninov himself, Vladimir Horowitz, Svyatoslav Richter, Arthur Rubinstein, Rosa Tamarkina, Byron Janis, Vladimir Ashkenazi, Nikolai Petrov, Van Cliburn, Denis Matsuev, Nikolai Lugansky.

Rachmaninov's masterpiece will be presented by Krzysztof Jablonski, a virtuoso pianist, honored to open with his solo concert the Year of Chopin in the Senate of the Republic of Poland. Krzysztoflauet is the winner of many prestigious international piano competitions, among which is the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. But the sophisticated St. Petersburg audience fell in love with Maestro Yablonsky not only for his virtuosic performing skills, but also for his incredible charm, which for a long time leaves a mark in the hearts of the audience.

A mystical note this evening will be the execution of a fragment of the "Walpurgis Night" by Charles Gounod in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the composer. It is his musical version of "Faust" with more than fifty years does not come off the world opera scene. Charles Gounod in the opera "Faust" created an unusually bright, colorful choreographic picture "Walpurgis Night", which in many ballet scenes of the world gained an independent life as a one-act ballet. It was to the music of Gounod that the ballet "Walpurgis Night" was staged by the famous choreographer George Balanchine. This evening also the brilliant vocalists Tatiana PAVLOVSKAYA, soprano and Hovhannes AYVAZYAN, tenor (Armenia) will perform.
