Concert «St. Matthew Passion»

Concert «St. Matthew Passion»

The basis for the musical work of Metropolitan Hilarion is the narrative from the Gospel of Matthew, dedicated to the suffering and death of Christ. This narrative alternates with musical numbers-recitatives, choruses and arias, the text of which is borrowed mainly from the Orthodox divine service of Holy Week. The premiere of the oratorio "Passion for Matthew" was held on March 27, 2007 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, performed by the Moscow Synodal Choir and the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra under Vladimir Fedoseev; The text itself was read by Metropolitan Hilarion himself. The oratorio was also performed in Rome, Melbourne, Toronto.
