Paul Abraham Dukas (1865-1935) - one of the brightest representatives of impressionism in music. Legacy Duke is relatively small, it is well for a long time and worked on his writings. This is probably due to their small numbers. In addition, the history of music is probably difficult to find a composer who had been so keen sense of critical attitude to his art, how different from all of Paul Dukas. It is for this reason, he mercilessly destroyed many, almost finished their work.

World famous composer brought symphonic scherzo "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (1897) at the Goethe ballad about a young apprentice magician who, podsmotrev some rites of his teacher, brings to life some dark forces. But he does not know how to send them back, nor how to cope with them. He was able to make a simple broom carry water, but he nearly drowned in the flood waters, because being able to bring the spirit, had forgotten the magic words that could stop him. The expressiveness of action captivated music lovers, and its magnificent orchestration himself praised Rimsky-Korsakov. In 1940, Walt Disney, in his "Fantasies" has created a brilliant illustration to "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Paul Dukas.

Wonderful choreographic poem "Peri", a masterpiece of exquisite orchestral writing, was established in 1912 on the subject of ancient Iranian legend about Alexander the Great (Iskander), which is in search of Flower of Immortality reached the ends of the earth, inhabited by a mysterious fairy Perry. The poem was one of the brightest pages of the composer. After the brilliant success of "Peri" Duke switched to teaching and critical work and never wrote a single major product.
