Hermitage Theatre belongs to the class of elite - many have heard about it, but usually it is not included in the standard tour program, and buying a ticket to represent quite problematic - they are booked in advance. Although it looks like a masterpiece of architecture, know all the citizens and guests of the city. Hermitage Theatre is located on the Palace Embankment and is separated from the palaces of the so-called "Winter Canal" with beautiful curved arch-bridge. The theater building was built by architect G.Quarenghi in the tradition of the ancient style. Construction began in 1783, full of facades completed in 1802. Exterior and interior of the building are undoubted masterpiece of palace architecture and decoration and layout were done with the expectation that this will be the Imperial Theatre.

Since the Hermitage Theatre was designed only to serve the imperial family and the nobility of the approximate, rooms are small - a maximum of 250 spectators. Spotting also located outside the ranks - the semicircular with central bed in the center front of the stage.

We saw Swan Lake at the Hermitage Theater while on a Baltic Cruise. It was unforgettable. So glad we did it. No only was the ballet beautiful but the theater itself was amazing.
