In the year of its 25th anniversary, the St. Petersburg State Musical Theater "Carambol" presents the first Russian version of the famous Broadway musical "Joseph and His Amazing Dream Cloak" (by agreement with Really Useful Group (UK)) to the viewer.
The biblical story of Joseph and his brothers is the story of envy, love and forgiveness. The authors of the musical - composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and poet-playwright Tim Rice - world-famous creators of such hits of the musical genre as "Cats", "Phantom of the Opera", rock opera "Jesus Christ - Superstar", etc. It was after the release "Joseph" (1968) to the young authors came the first real success. The work was repeatedly reworked and, originally written as a pop cantata, eventually turned into a show.
In the music of "Joseph" E.L. Webber uses a variety of genres and styles - popular motifs of the sixties, country, a parody of rock'n'roll and chanson, a ballad. Irony and lyrics are closely intertwined in this story, which has won the hearts of the spectators of many countries. In Russia, the musical "Joseph and His Amazing Cloak of Dreams" is staged for the first time. The project involved artists, the orchestra and the children's studio of the musical theater "Carambol", as well as the stars of the musicals of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
