In March 2016 the students of the NA course. Russia's Alexander Petrov (not only the artistic director of the "Looking Glass", but also the professor of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) presented an unusual performance to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries - opera-pastoral based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales "Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep", where instead of words are used names of notes (solfeggirovanie). The meaning of relationships, characters, situations, "cleared" of words, sprouts from musical intonation and expressive pantomime. Bach's music, presented by theatrical means, clearly reveals the meaning of what is happening even to the smallest spectator. In addition, there is a character in the play - the all-knowing old rat Giovanna, who tells the audience about the essence of the events. Student performance became a full-fledged part of the repertoire of the theater "Through the Looking Glass" and won the special love of the public.
Wonderful little figures stand on a mantelpiece and watch people's lives. However, at night they come to life! They move, dance and even sing. True, their musical speech consists of only seven words: DO, RE, MI ... Yes, these are just the names of the notes. But how much can you say! And, of course, this language is understandable to everyone just as the music of Bach, which our heroes sing, is understandable all over the world. A beautiful and slightly sad story about the love of the lovely Shepherdess to the same lovely Trumpeter will tell in the play the old rat Giovanna. No plots Kozlonog and Pigs-Piggy will not prevent lovers from making a bold escape to the roof. But why, when they come back, they will stand on different sides of the mantelpiece? ..
